Chronology of cameras R. Louis
This is a small 4 x 4 cm format camera, very cheap, made from steel sheet covered with a black or greenish frosted paint. Two features are strange. First of all, the viewfinder (very rough) is tilting and not folding like for many cameras and also the body opening mode for loading the film.
It is the whole top cover which is raised, carrying with it the entire internal parts of the device, and leaving an empty metal shell. A lever between the viewfinder and the film advance knob locks the cover. It could be confused with the trigger, but this one is obviously on the lens block, where it operates a single speed guillotine shutter.
It was distributed by France-Photo. It was named Erel (initials of its maker R. Louis, from Saint-Junien - Haute-Vienne-
